My dear friend Rob Becker emailed me a link for this song by Smith and said,"Taylor, you’ve got to sing this song, it’s so you.” So I did.

Baby It's You

It's not the way you smile, that touched my heart

It's not the way you kissed, that tears me apart

Many, many, many nights go by

I sit alone, at home and cry

Over you, what can I do

Don't want nobody, nobody

Cause baby, it's you, baby it's you

Is it true what they say, about you

They say you'll never, ever, never, be true

It doesn't matter, what they say

I know I'm gonna love you any old way

What can I do, what about you

Don't want nobody, nobody

Baby it's you, baby it's you

Don’t leave me alone

Baby it's you

Come on home

Baby it's you

Did you know..?

"Baby It's You" is a song written by Burt Bacharach (music), and Luther Dixon (credited as Barney Williams) and Mack David (lyrics). It was recorded by The Shirelles and The Beatles, and became hits for both. The highest-charting version of "Baby It's You" was by the band Smith, who took the song to number five on the US charts in 1969.

The song was produced by Luther Dixon. When released as a single in 1961, the song became very popular, becoming a number eight hit on Billboard's Hot 100 chart. It later appeared on the albumBaby It's You, named to capitalize upon the success of the single. The vocal arrangements on this version proved influential in subsequent versions, including that by The Beatles, who used the same one. One notable feature of the song is its minor-to-major key chord changes on the verses.

A number of other well-known artists have recorded covers of the song, among them:
